Synopsis
Bleach is an anime and manga series primarily created by Tite Kubo. The story’s setting is a fictional universe where humans exist in various states, races, and phases. Once human beings die, their souls seek peace (though all do not find it). The Soul Society, an afterlife realm, exists as a sort of halfway point. The souls that find peace go on to live in the Soul Society until they are resurrected. These souls also have the option to take care of other souls as Soul Reapers.
The series follows Ichigo Kurosaki, a teenager who obtains the powers of a Soul Reaper named Rukia Kuchiki. Rukia’s transference of power was meant to help Rukia defeat the attack of a hollow, but she accidently gives him too much. She ends up trapping herself in the human world and must rely on Ichigo’s help until she regains her strength and her powers are restored.
The Soul Society sees no reason in her breaking the rules and giving Ichigo her powers regardless of the circumstances. For this reason, they have placed a death sentence on Rukia for the power transference. Ichigo and his friends (who acquire powers of their own by sheer association) must save Rukia from the Soul Society. Taking over the soul reapers responsibilities, Ichigo battles an onslaught of restless soul creatures called hollows.
